black midi announce “Eras” set for upcoming L.A. show

They’ll play “as many songs as we can possibly fit in one show” at their November 21 performance at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, and won’t return to the U.S. in 2024, according to an X post.

black midi have announced that their upcoming Los Angeles show will be a career-spanning set — and one of the last chances North American fans will have to see the group for quite some time. “We’ll be doing an ‘Eras’ set at our LA show this month — playing as many songs as we can possibly fit in one show,” the band wrote on X. “We won’t tour the US next year so this is your best and last chance to see us for a good while.”

The British experimental rock trio have three California shows scheduled for later this month, according to their website: November 19 at The Observatory in Santa Ana, November 21 at The Wiltern in L.A. (the “Eras” show), and November 22 at The Observatory North Park in San Diego. A representative of the black midi confirmed to The FADER that the San Diego show is still on, despite their post calling the L.A. show the “last chance to see us for a good while.”

Shortly after their brief California run, black midi will head to South America to play two shows a piece in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and São Paulo, Brazil (including performances at the cities’ respective Primavera festivals), followed by their final gig of the year — at Blondie in Santiago, Chile.

They have yet to announce any 2024 performances, in the U.S. or elsewhere. In November 2022, they released a surprise live album titled Live Fire, recorded that summer at Primavera Porto. That record followed their third studio LP, Hellfire, released four months earlier.
