Skrillex and Solomun’s “Rumpta” is Ibiza Industrial
The rip-roaring track comes ahead of their b2b set on July 5 at Pacha Ibiza.
Skrillex and Solomun — two of electronic music's most ferocious forces — have teamed up on their first ever collaborative single, "Rumpta," out today, July 1.
The track combines both producer/DJs' seminal hard-edged drum production with a lighter, housier feel that could work well on the neon-lit dance floors of Ibiza, where Solomun has his long-running +1 residency at Pacha Ibiza. With vocals that punctuate the drops and synth textures that pad out the atmosphere, the slightly industrial-style heater is just the latest musical flex in a very busy summer for both artists.
Skrillex released a surprise latin-rooted album — SOMA — last month. He also launched his new global music platform CONTRA in Berlin, which featured an elite selection of global talent including Bladee, Nick León, and many others. The FADER shared an exclusive photo recap of the buzzed about event. Read about it here.
Solomun is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of his record label Diynamic Music, as well as keeping a busy and varied touring schedule — a uniquely diverse line-up that ca find him at the major glitz of Las Vegas's The Sphere or Berlin's Panorama Bar. His Solomun +1 residency at Pacha Ibiza features the Hamburg-raised DJ playing "+1" with dance music's biggest stars, like Peggy Gou, Jaimie Xx, and, of course, Skrillex, who will be playing alongside Solomun on July 5.
