Boy Jorge

You’ve always known us to be up on our Brazil game so it was no surprise to find the FADER posse at last night’s Seu Jorge show at SOB’s.

Cinéastes will remember Jorge as Knockout Ned or that gent singing Bowie covers in Portuguese and looking strangely comfortable a wetsuit. Die-hard FADER readers (yes, both of you) will remember our story from way back when, and the rest of the world will have to play catch up 'cause this Sept sees his album Cru drop into stores - and if the S.O.B.s gig was any indication, replete with enough cane-soaked hip shake samba to put the general populace on Brasil blastation (i.e. not just people who know what the word favela means and that Jorge is from one, but like, the globe.)

Apparently, people tell us that Bill Murray and David Byrne were in the house last night, but the joint was so packed all we could do was sip deep from our rum on ice and take half step Seu swizzles. Sigh.
