All The Players Came From Far And Wide

September 15, 2005

Our Purple Ribbon show blasted off last night at the Knit. Granted, it didn't blast off until damn close to three in the AM, but anyone even marginally upset about that kind of thing is soft. (YEAH, WE SAID IT - you're not built for this, dun duns!) Seriously though, the ATLiens could have started their set at daybreak and we would have been just as hyped. They. Killed. It.

Opening with a triumphant version of "Kryptonite" from Got Purp? Vol 2, the crew of Big Boi, Killer Mike, Sleepy Brown, C-Bone and Rock-D (Bubba was unfortunately absent) then ran though an energetic selection of hits - everything from "A.D.I.D.A.S" to "So Fresh So Clean" to "The Whole World" to a phenomenal ending medley of Southernplayalistic... joints and "Elevators (Me And You)". MOTHERFUCKING "ELEVATORS"!!!

We can't believe our own geeked-ness watching Big Boi absolutely own the KF stage (blowing it's "tiny ass speakers" in the process), running from side to side and sounding amazing throughout. Dude is a consumate mic professional, and we were thrilled to see him rip it on song after song. He promises to be back in a few months "with a full band" and best believe we will be posted up front once again.
