Sticker Shock

April 12, 2006

On our way to lunch we saw this sticker on a newspaper box outside the office. This being the Rotten Apple and all we're guessing that the sticker is (A) a tongue-in-cheek middle finger up to Knicks GM Isaiah Thomas, cursing him for assembling a group of undersized point guards with personality disorders, an under-developed center with a heart condition and a coach who thinks the way to get through to grown men is to act like a combination of your whiney Aunt Esther and Woody Allen (except not funny) or (B) a non-native New Yorker honestly thanking Thomas for doing the same or (C) a vocal fan of the slept on Bible page-turner Book of Isaiah. Office consensus? All of the above (hey, it worked on the SATs!)

We guess this sticker comes from a hoops-obsessed Bible scholar making the connection between Zeke's salary-cap-apocalypse-baiting personnel moves and feel good passages like "Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers." THAT'S THAT KING JAMES CRACK! Practically describes the Knicks locker room!

Friday night your boys in blue and orange play at home (against the Bucks) as the world's most famous arena sees the world's saddest collection of multi-millionaires follow the never ending trail of tears to the end of the season and into the draft lottery. Thomas will no doubt draft some Serbian dude fresh off a liver transplant.
