Breaking news from the FADER's internet-based pneumatic mail shoot: White Magic (Mira Bilotte and compatriot Doug Shaw) have a tune ("Long Time Ago") on the upcoming CD Rogues Gallery, a compendium of sea chanteys, sailor songs and other yaaaar-matey ish ditties, coming out August 22nd on Anti/Epitaph, and helmed by the likes of Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski and co-star Johnny 'Eyeliner' Depp. It's not so often that we get a dose of Sting, Lucinda Williams, Lou Reed, Rufus Wainwright and White Magic doing—we seriously are not making this up—pirate ballads, so you can bet your booty that we'll be on top of that one. In other, more pressing landlubber news: September sees the release of White Magic's single, "Katie Cruel" and November brings the release of their full length (like holy shit—a White Magic full length?!) Dat Rosa Mel Apibus—which, if you haven't Googled it already, means "The Rose Gives the Bees Honey" and was a phrase used by the Rosicrucians, the Masons and other occult sects that we are in no way qualified to explain. All we gotta say is Psyched Estus Un Faderum Officinum.
