Is It Summer Yet?

January 03, 2007

A little bi-coastal FADER editorial sleuthing just turned up some very fucking exciting news: the Coen Bros are directing the film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's high-intensity novel No Country For Old Men and it's due out this summer or thereabouts. We've had plenty of ripe debates with some of the friends we respect most about whether McCarthy is a genius whose books make us conjure and contemplate the maybe shallow, maybe deep darkness of the human abyss, or if he's just a lot of stick and stones for adolescent boys who like their blood splattering, their skulls crushed and their language inflated and mythical. Now that we think about it, we've had similar "Geniuses Or Imbeciles?" debates about the Coens, too. Anyway, we think it's a match made in heaven - or maybe hell - and are already bone-crushed with anticipation. SCOTT RUDIN GET AT US!!!
