Freeload: Kanye + ARE Weapons = Jockin Jay-Z
- story THE FADER
So, from what we’ve heard (rumors), Kanye is producing every song on Blueprint 3. That’s a good idea. You know what’s a better idea? Kanye gets even weirder. We’re pushing the association a little bit, but “Jockin’ Jay-Z” bears enough of a resemblance to ARE Weapons’ “Street Gang” that it got us thinking how insane it would be if Mr West’s next inspiration post-Daft Punk was our favorite old downtown band. Just for fun, listen to the two songs in question below, and then imagine what Jay would sound like over “Hey World”, “Black Mercedes” and “Fuck You Pay Me”. He wouldn’t even have to change the titles!

NYC: Captured On a Rooftop
- story THE FADER
Tonight marks the “Official World Premiere” of Dan Levin and Ben Soloman’s film, Captured, about guerilla style photo-documentarian, Clayton Patterson. Beside the fact that this film is a comprehensive look at a grossly underrated staple New Yorker, A.R.E. Weapons is playing for like a whole half an hour, which is more then we could ever expect. AND the film is being shown at Rooftop Films which… is on a rooftop! People, are you kidding? New York in the summertime, rooftops, ARE Weapons, and a film about citizen revolt? We’re calling that an extreme pleasure endeavor.
