Big Chief, Eat Greedy Mixtape

Musically, very little has changed with Big Chief since we spoke to him for F56’s Dallas Rap story. He’s still making city-crushing big boss records perfect for clouding penthouse views with high grade weed smoke, but with an appearance on MTV, he’s just now starting to reach the homes of people too far away to drive to Dallas’ Tha Bomb record store and cop the latest of his amazingly consistent “Eat Greedy” mixtape series. Now inching closer and closer to the national recognition that has somehow eluded him, this Eat Greedy mixtape, full of his hardest records to date with Florida kingpin Bigga Rankin, is a fine introduction to the world at large. After the jump, check the trailer for Big Chief’s upcoming album.

Man, if this isn’t southern playalistic Cadillac funky music, we don’t know what is. Dallas rising star Big Chief knows a little something about summer anthems, but Slim Thug compliments Chief’s D-town cruising narrative like the gangsta part in Chief’s waves. Word on the internets is that Eat Greedy Vol. 8 will be in stores momentarily, but this should hold us over until it drops, if not until we have to get our minks out of storage.

Swag, as a term, look, state of enlightenment, etc. seems to have very well run its course in hip-hop vernacular, but Swagg (with an extra “g” for gangsta!) seems to just be getting started. Dallas’ Big Chief, who you can read about in issue 56’s Dallas rap story, has a swagg so undeniable, Jim Jones, the swag swami himself got together with him for, you guessed it, “My Swagg.” Chief’s latest swagg-tastic endeavor, Eat Greedy Vol. 6: The Streets Got Me mixtape drops today. Since it’s absolutely impossible to find online, we invite you to join us in befriending him on Myspace and spamming his wall with individual requests for it. No swagg is above the internet!

Freeload: Big Chief,”Eat Greedy Girl”

Big Chief is not poor. We found this out during a recent expedition to his hometown of Dallas. But we’re quite sure he didn’t get to dip himself in Louis Vuitton shoes, belts and sidekick cases just by posting songs to myspace, even if they are G’d up pipe organ ballads where he professes infatuation so real that he readily commits to parenthood. Big Chief doesn’t need any more money. Love on the other hand…
