Exclusive: Baaba Maal f. Brazilian Girls, “Television” MP3 + Video

Senegalese singer/songwriter Baaba Maal usually captures more of the NPR/mom audience than The FADER demo, but we do appreciate a good collaborative effort. For the first single off his new album Television, Maal recruited Didi and Sabina of The Brazilian Girls to sing the title track. We have the quickened edit of “Television,” which is surprisingly swift and jamming, a blend of electronic dance pep with West African cool. Maal has also released a fuzzy, magical video for the song’s album version (which is about seven really long minutes). Watch the time and space exploration after the jump and download the song exclusively on thefader.com below.

Freeload: Brazilian Girls, “Good Time (Diplo Remix)”

You get the feeling after last week’s momentous occasion that some people think America won the lottery or something, when all we did was pick the right guy to lead us through the Great Re-depression 2009. Brazilian Girls’s new single “Good Time” is available on iTunes right now and addresses the bad by offering the titular solution. Diplo’s remix boils it down to an even more basic premise, but maybe that’s because the dude has been at a party since 2003. Either way, when we are all soon laying track for the New New Deal bullet train to Florida, we will use this to keep hammer time.
