Q+A: Tony Blankets of Restless People on Family Edition
- story Sam Hockley-Smith
In one form or another, most of the members of Restless People have been in our magazine. Whether it’s when we wrote about Professor Murderin F41, Michael Bell-Smith in F61, The Brothers production duo in F53, or one of the million and a half times we’ve covered Tanlines on this very site. Now the dudes have a site/free online-only record label/collective called Family Edition. Thus far they’ve released music from Restless People, mysterious lo-fi weirdos Newborn Huskies, an upcoming series of original ringtones and also a YouTube video of a dude at NASA trying to give another guy a high five. After the jump read our conversation with Restless People member Tony Blankets about the label, music and what may or may not be an actual story behind a certain Rolling Stones album.

- story THE FADER
We are 100% FOR musicians we love coming together as one. So obviously we were pumped when FADER fam Will aka DJ Caps IM’d us this banging Telepathe song remixed by Tan Lines, aka Eric from Brothers/Storm & Stress and Jesse from Professor Murder! What is even more synergistic is that in the just-released FADER 53, we featured Telepathe as… a feature, and Brothers as a Beat Construction. (Download Brothers’ EXCLUSIVE FADER mix here!) We also really like Professor Murder. We featured them in FADER 41. We wish they would drop an album soon. FOUR (OR FIVE) BECOME ONE. This is beautiful.

Exclusive Freeload: Brothers FADER Mix
- story THE FADER
Brothers are kind of the unsung heroes of Brooklyn right now. The two producers have their paws on a grip of projects, each unique and nutty in their own right, some more well-known than others. So we asked dudes to put together a sampler mix of their remixes and productions and they gave us this glitched-out romp of liquid synths and changing tempos. We were jamming it on the way to work this morning and envisioned the L train turning into a disco of sweaty bodies chanting loudly in unison, which actually happened minus the disco and dancing and unity. Also, at 13:45 you get an unreleased track from a project between !!!’s Tyler Pope and Spank Rock’s Naeem Juwan where Naeem kind of sounds like David Bowie and there’s tons of static behind the beat but it’s still danceable. Check the tracklist and their Beat Construction from F53 after the jump.
