Le Blog Fou d’Ed Banger

A member of The FADER editorial staff spent part of his holiday break in Paris, and the one thing he bemoaned more than anything was the lack of English-language French blogs about French people doing things in America that he could read while he was in France. He’s back now, and wouldn’t you know it, an English-language French blog about French people doing things in America started up the day he got back. What a PWN. It’s written by Paris’ coolest dudes and a gal — Busy P, So Me, DJ Mehdi and Fafi — and it’s called Cool Cats le Blog. On any given day, you can learn things like who Mehdi’s J-gurus are (Jay-Z, John Le Carré, Jerry Seinfeld and John Lennon), what Pedro Winter’s torso looks like, which Kid Cudi video So Me is now working on, and whether Fafi is really as annoying as some people would like you to believe (she doesn’t seem to be). Updates are pretty frequent and, of course, there is a store where you can buy t-shirts and stuff.

Audio: Busy P f. Murs, “To Protect And Entertain”

A new track called “To Protect & Entertain” by that dude Busy P and featuring Murs is out in the digital world right now, and is probably off the Ed Banger comp of the same name out at the end of May. If the beat sounds familiar, it’s because it debuted in instrumental form as “Pedrophilia” on our limited-edition FADER/Southern Comfort 7-inch last year. The beat still has that Parisian G-Funk slump and Murs drops references to LA’s doucheball culture—The Standard Downtown, Cinespace, Jeremy Scott, etc—but he really takes it to the Laugh Factory with this outro adlib: “Shout out to all my n-words, all my black people in France, for being the only other niggers to burn shit down when the white people fuck with you. We don’t take any shit.” We hear there’s also a version with Cool Kids on it. Pedro, don’t hold out on us.

FADER/Southern Comfort 7″ Series #4: Full Metal Ninja

Artwork by Tomoe Hayama

For the fourth edition of the FADER/Southern Comfort 7″ series, we asked ourselves, “What would it sound like to get your butt sliced off by a ninja robot in the year 3076?” The answer (clearly) was Parisian party animal

Busy P on one side and B’more blockslayer DJ Blaqstarr on the other. And then we got Tomoe Hayama to design that ninja’s adverthrowingstar for the cover. Watch out!
