Freeload: The Clipse, Road to Till the Casket Drops Mixtape + “Still Got It 4 Cheap”
- story THE FADER
We love the Clipse enough to conveniently forget about their thrown together Re-Up Gang album on Koch. We’re also willing to forget that this new mixtape was put out by another magazine since Road to Till the Casket Drops promotes not only the Clipse’s upcoming album but their clothing line Play Cloths, as well, and that other magazine is run by a clothing maker. All this aside, Clipse has given us enough hot songs that we’ll check for them on good faith alone for at least the next five years and there are piles upon piles of quotables here. And since we took so long in putting it up, Father Time aka Clinton Sparks has rewarded us with a brand brand new track off his 2009 mixtape Get Familiar which enlists the Pusha, Malice and Pharrell.

- story THE FADER
The last time Kardi and Clinton teamed up for a tape, it was one of the year’s best, sticking to it’s then-novel ’90s throwback theme all the way from the Photoshopped Do The Right Thing cover to the loving Cypress Hill and Redman tributes. Their latest project isn’t quite as high concept—man, we SO did not anticipate that “A Millie” freestyle!—but it’s still worth a download to preview six tracks of hot fiya from this summer’s Not 4 Sale LP (including a new Clipse collab and the dancehall banger “Bad Like We Bad”) and hear Kardi keep it extra real over Big Boi’s “Royal Flush” – “Be clear/ After last call I’m outta here/ I’m tryna upgrade from Expedia to jet lear…” We feel you! Except for the responsible drinking part.
