Seems like we’ve been rocking Diamond’s last mixtape, Ms. Boujhetto, consistently for about a year—particularly her take on “Run Up Get Dun Up,” which has become our fight club anthem, and is reprised here. This one is more classic Diamond shoe-swagging and fist-popping—tres boujhetto, we luh you. P.M.S. (Pardon My Swagg) is a genius title, gracias for injecting a little unapologetic estrogen into this Southern rap thing and doing a bunch of remixes including one with Nicole Wray, one of our favorite singers of all time. She also closes the circle with more classic skits/outros/monologues/shout-outs, always high points on her shit.

We were totally walking to Sake Bar in Manhattan and listening to this mixtape when we realized, at one point on Bitch Musik, former Crime Mob heavyweight Diamond proclaims herself “the best thing poppin’ since Freaknik in ‘93,” a pure Atlanta reference for a mixtape that is 100% THA A, from its aggy fight tracks (”Bitches Ain’t Shit,” “Run Up Get Dun Up,” “Beat Dem Charges Like Rocky”) down to its guests (Shawty Redd! Killer Mike!). It was 14 degrees outside at the time and all we could think about was if we were Diamond we would probably be at some ill Atlanta house party wearing pum pum shorts and keeping our pinkie prone as we sipped chilled Patron from a crystal glass, instead of wrapped in six layers of puffy jacket and wishing we had a jeep with a subwoofer so we could crank this tape for all of NYC to enjoy.
