Exclusive Freeload: Daedelus, “C’est Super” (Michna Remix)

Meeting of the minds! F43 soul/weird jams/whatever dude Daedelus is remixed by F56 Gen F superstar Michna. First office reaction is that it sounds like the music from Doom. Not sure if we’ve reached a consensus on that one, but we do know that Michna flips the vintage disco throwback vibe of the original (from the Daedelus/Jogger collabo EP slash label mission statement Friends of Friends Vol. 1) and replaces it with a bassline so thick it sounds like the strings are about to break. If you want to get weird, it kind of sounds like a bouncy ball. We’re not going to go nuts and hate hard on the original or anything because it’s pretty good, but this remix is a lot better.

FADER TV’s LA Is A Nice Place To Live #8

On each episode of FADER TV’s LA Is A Nice Place To Live, the West Coast staff takes in some of the city’s culture and fun good times. This episode finds the crew crossing the Orange Curtain to check out The Crosby in Santa Ana, simultaneously pushing the limits of their video camera and semantics. The Crosby is partly owned by Free the Robots, who this past Friday night did a beat set along with Los Angeles proper’s Daedelus. While both acts pulled off awesome sets, we have to admit that our favorite part of the night was the one-two punch of Stella and cajun shrimp pizza, which we enjoyed three feet away from where Daedelus was playing Brain Age.

Freeload: Mad Decent Mornings

Maybe we’re coming around slowly, but we just found these two songs up on the Mad Decent blog and both are making Tuesday morning feel like, uhh, Thursday night… something better than Tuesday morning. The first is a song from the latest Daedelus album made all dubby and dreamy by Mumdance and High Rankin. The second is something from internet superstar Dances With White Girls‘ debut EP on Rapture-related label Throne of Blood. Both are good.

Freeload: Daedelus f. Michael Johnson, “Make It So (XXXchange Remix)”

We put Daedelus and his excellent muttonchops in FADER 43 as part of our Electrocuted Los Angeles feature, and he has a new record coming out called Love To Make Music To which is running shit up in our iTunes today. He also produced that TI$A Obama song that is suddenly everywhere and fortunately we just got this XXXchange remix in the mail to pass along to you. The original with Michael Johnson of Holopaw fame is a jammer in and of itself, but XXXchange takes it from space-disco to handclap house with some subtle tweaks. Dude is on a streak with the weird remixes of late with this, the “Comfy In Nautica” jawn and Santi’s “LES Artistes”. He also did an exclusive remix of this cup of coffee we’re drinking and it OFF THE CHAIN SON.

Dublab: Future Roots to Infinity

The Angelenos behind Dublab have been doing internet radio for so long that they once changed Bill Gates’ diapers. And now that they’ve reached their 8th birthday, they’ve decided to revamp not just their internet presence but their whole organization, upping the productivity and the scope while going non-profit at the same time. That of course means they need your help in the form of money and are throwing an extra special Proton Drive to raise it. Any donation over $20 gets you some pretty lavish rewards along with the fulfillment that only comes from giving. Or jams. Here are a couple to get you in a generous mood from the sold out limited edition Dublab Echo Expansion 12″…
