This is just unfair at this point. When Akon signed Frenchie, we could’ve assumed they’d be collaborating at some point, but we also happen to know that French already has a vault full of Dame Grease bangers to choose from for his proper debut. And now he’s convinced Akon to climb out of his Auto-tomb to bind French’s verses on some New York “Soul Survivor” shit? Have people stopped playing “New York Minute” already? They shouldn’t have—although it’s a bit more understandable as French continues, with startling consistency, the onslaught he and Max began together. Fresh off his Gen F profile in the current issue, French also recently sent over “Nutin 2 Meee,” which will probably get buried in one of his mixtapes, among a bunch of other great mixtape music, but we’d happily advise more people to release mixtape music untagged if it hit as hard as this does.

- story THE FADER
For a while we were sure French Montana was this sort of Slash to Max B’s Axl Rose; stand around and look cool and give people a break from Max’s drunken lullaby. Then we heard the Coke Wave mixtape and got really excited about someone from New York who wants to sound like they are actually from New York. French released the The Laundry Man EP as a follow up to his Macaroni With The Cheese mixtape, which if the titles alone are to be believed, both prove that he really likes money. What you’ll have to listen to discover is that he also enjoys abusing Dame Grease beats and reintroducing Akon as a thoroughbred chorus horse.
