The Wild Things Are on Cahuenga Blvd

The last time we wrote about Urban Outfitters it ignited a firestorm of controversy over bicycles, so this time we’re going to keep it nice and simple. Spike Jonze just posted some behind-the-scenes photos of the new Where The Wild Things Are pop-up gallery/shop/fanfest at the Urban store on Cahuenga in Hollywood. Wild Things DP Lance Acord is handpicking stills to display in the store’s window and some other folks are building a crazy forest cave thing inside. Jonze also writes there will be some special items for sale in the store, possibly including Christian Joy’s specially made Wild Things outfits, at the opening this Saturday night, and that all proceeds will go to benefit the Wild Things co-screenwriter Dave Eggers’ 826LA writing program. Music will be provided by Jonze’s brother Squeak E. Clean. (via We Love You So)

Video: Holy Shit Where The Wild Things Are Is Actually Coming Out

By now you’ve probably seen the preview for the long-awaited Spike Jonze/Dave Eggers Where the Wild Things Are collabo. We are excited! After all the rumors that it terrified little kids in the test audiences and the studio was considering firing Jonze, or that all three of the Jonas Brothers were going to play Max (we just made that up), it looks like the film is actually coming out as Jonze intended it in October. Let’s hope it does. And get ready for the Halloween costume onslaught because how cool does this look? If you’re not at least curious about seeing this you have no soul. Just saying.

New-ish Stills from Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are

Where the Wild Things Are is going to be the best movie of 2009. Okay we’re making this judgment based on a couple fuzzy pictures, but you know what, no one told your mom to calm down after the ultrasound, pal, so let it be. This most recent still shows young Max (Max Records) standing among the Wild Things (an earlier still is after the jump). Adapted by Jonze and Dave Eggers from Maurice Sendak’s book, with a soundtrack supposedly involving Karen O, Wild Things is now in post-production, so expect more images to leak over the coming months.
