DJ Mujava f. DJ NonSense, “Superstar” MP3
The Buffetlibre DJs are incredibly prolific with their remixes and have been instrumental in Barcelona’s ongoing love affair with house music, but for their new project they’re stepping up their game something serious. Collaborating with artists from 50 different countries, they’re releasing a massive digital album called Peace, which will be available on the internet in January for a pay-what-you-please price starting at two euros—all proceeds will go towards Amnesty International’s efforts in global humanitarian aid. That is, friends, what you might call hot hot heat—particularly when the list of participating artists includes Micachu & the Shapes, current FADER cover stars Girls, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Marc Almond, Bonde do Role, mum and a jillion others from places like Palestine, Serbia, Greece, China, Iraq, Norway and Ghana. This track, of course, reps South Africa, with the king of township funk getting super freaky with mondo drums and a hot sample reminiscent of the best diva you left behind in your ’90s dark crystal epoch. Also if you happen to be in Budapest this weekend, there’s a Peace party on Saturday at Merlin Club starring Frankmusik, We Plants are Happy Plants and Buffetlibre.

Freeload: Spoek Mathambo’s H.I.V.I.P. Devil House Mafias 2 Mix
- story THE FADER
Spoek Mathambo, whose group Sweat.X we covered in last year’s special Africa issue, is becoming a reliable source for African club or African club-inspired music connections of all kinds from all corners on his H.I.V.I.P. mixes, regularly hooking us up with new and rare jams from Mujava, Sibot, friend of The FADER Chief Boima and a ton more. On this one though he’s also giving us a sneak listen to his new recording aliases Moleke Mbembe and Slush Puppy Kids on some remixes and a couple originals, which are, how shall we say this, fucking awesome. Download below and get the tracklist after the jump.

Ghetto Palms: Township Palms pt. 2 / DJ Mujava Exclusive Interview
- story Eddie "Stats" Houghton
In case you hadn’t heard, FruityLoops and brand X Pentium II’s are the weapons of the future and Africa is the battlefield. DJ Cleo and DJ Mujava—who figured heavily in last week’s Township Palmcast—are just 2 of a generation of rising Afro-electric stars putting cheap digital technology to transformative use. In the same category you can include Znobia and his kuduro contemporaries, coupe decale one-man bandsmen like Bablee, not to mention the fools transforming traditional Berber music with auto-tune software and reggaeton drums somewhere in Morocco’s cannabis-infested Rif valley.
Freeload/Audio: Radioclit and Mumdance Remix “Township Funk”
- story THE FADER
If you are reading this, we are assuming you are at least moderately interested in music and have hopefully heard DJ Mujava’s “Township Funk” by now. We have put it up several times but most recently in the FADER 58 podcast. Why? Because Mujava is in the Gen F section of that issue and his song sounds particularly ill blended into No Age’s “Teen Creeps.” Read the Gen F story after the jump, but first, listen to a couple new iterations of “Township Funk” from our buddies Radioclit and Mumdance. Radioclit’s is a remix you may have heard bouncing around. The Mumdance joint, with assists from Jammer and C. Gritz is less a remix than a club jam loosely wrapped around “Township Funk.” The trio made it to promote their recent live collaborations in and around London.
