Video: Ellie Goulding, “Under the Sheets”

Ellie Goulding is a proper Brit, so her forthcoming release on Neon Gold is full of proper Brit things: beats by Burial, production by Mark Ronson and some guest spots by our mans Theophilus London. “Under the Sheets” is her own theme, though, and its breathlessness is still endearingly unpretentious, kinda like the fact that she’s wearing a real regular hoodie and glitter at the same time in this video. Ellie Goulding, “Under the Sheets” MP3

A couple months ago Mark Ronson hosted Ellie Goulding on Authentic Shit, his show on East Village Radio which is slotted right after ours. Already fans of her sweet, quavering voice from Jakwob’s remix of her lilting “Starry Eyed,” we stuck around to watch her strum an acoustic in the tiny studio to an audience of four. There was magic in her voice crackles, and if you doubt, you can stream her performance here for proof. On the gorgeous new track “Under the Sheets,” her glorious warble is elevated to anthemic heartbreak status. Next time we get dumped and subsequently have emotionally charged ex sex we will probably play this on repeat and think about all our past loves super melancholy-like.

Michael Jackson, “Beat It (Jakwob and Jestar’s Wakowob)” MP3

After downloading about 90,342 MJ tribute mixes and attending 32 different MJ-themed events (including one spin class dedicated to his post-Off the Wall work), it seemed there would be no new way to pay respects to the greatest of all time. But Jakwob, whose Ellie Goulding remix we’re unceasingly wild for, and his old pal Jestar, have remade “Beat It” into a true-blue Brit bass-wobbler with echoes of dub that’s more creative than most of the homages being horseshoed onto el internet. It’s refreshing… and this shit stays being sad.

Multiple Freeloads: Dubblestep Mansanity MP3s

As creative people, we like to invent things like shoes that turn into rollerskates and time-traveling hologramic earrings, so when producers invent genres like dubblestep that cater to our incredibly truncated attention spans, we salute them and think about sending a thank you note, until we forget. L-Vis 1990 did this, and we also want to shout out Jakwob. Yo if dubblestep wasn’t crazy enough for you, now it’s two times not as crazy!
