Audio: Fischerspooner, “We Are Electric” (Hot Chip Remix)

Hot on the heels of their Robert Wyatt collabo and a meeting of the minds with Peter Gabriel comes Hot Chip’s remix of Fischerspooner’s “We Are Electric.” It’s almost like they put every team-up request in a hat and just started picking things at random. This time dudes get minimal, stretching out sparse electronic texture for eight minutes. Prepare to go nuts when the egg shaker drops into the mix toward the end, proving once and for all that 2009 is all about tiny thrills.

Exclusive Freeload: Telepathe, “So Fine (Lauren Flax Remix)”

Lauren Flax has been monstrously busy as of late (the morning after we interviewed her for her Gen F in issue 59, she embarked on an extended tour as Fischerspooner’s DJ, for instance). Between putting down her vivacious house sets worldwide, though, she squeezed in time to rework fellow Brooklyn duo Telepathe’s dark and clattering industrial song “So Fine” into an icy, eerie 4/4 track consistent with Flax’s tendencies towards emotional melodies and appreciation for goth. Sounds like anger being extinguished into isolation and finally, irreverence.

More Songs About Buildings And Fischerspooner

No idea how the Fischerspooner dudes have time to write tunes in between throwing salons and buying glitter and getting fitted for costumes, but they done done it again: recording “Get Confused”, a last minute addition to their forthcoming Odyssey LP, featuring old lyrics by David Byrne sung by Mira Billotte of FADER faves White Magic. Byrne and Billotte join Linda Perry, Mirwais, Susan Sontag (On Photography, what’s really good?) and MacArthur Fellow Dave Hickey as contributors to the new album.
