Von D’s Bass Music Blog Mix MP3

Bass Music Blog is rad because it’s a collabo experience between a grip of hot bass/dubsteppy/purple producers across Europe, like Mumdance, Ginz, Baobinga, High Rankin, etc, on which they conduct Q&As with their compatriots and drop exclusives and whatnot. The most recent interview, with French producer Von D, not only investigates his general fromage intake (fascinating stuff), it comes with a mix of his own work that reflects his background in OG dub musics—a low-end chill out with serious futuristic irie vibes. (And there is also an as-yet unreleased Joker track on there, so holler at les dieux.)

The ABSOLUT FADER Visionary Podcast #4 — Leads To

Turning the halfway corner in the Visionary Podcast series, curated by The FADER and presented by ABSOLUT as part of our ongoing efforts to advance and advocate the art and music we love, we come to the phrase, “Leads to.” These two open-ended words instantly made us think of some kind of narrative, so we tried to tell a little story through the song titles—a story that of course ends with us soaking up some sun.

After going fairly hard on #3, we mellowed this one out a little bit, traversing its length with the coastal vibes of Foreign Born, the slightly nautical Friend, a fluid jam from White Denim, Purple Wowness via a Joker and Ginz remix and the wobbly pop of our man Theophilus London. Check the tracklist after the jump, and come back soon for “Something” on podcast #5.

Ginz Purple Podcast for Data Transmission

A forever interesting peculiarity of UK dance culture is its constant incremental evolution. Where US hip hop and JA dancehall are always hip hop and dancehall no matter how massive the shifts in style and technique, the Brits sometimes seem to tweak genres just so they can make up a new name. The newest of these is purple, a G-Funked and massive bisection of antecedent dubstep, whose most provocative purveyors are Joker (who first appeared on The FADER over a year ago) and Ginz, incidentally collaborators on some of the most ridiculous purple remixes so far. The former was profiled in FADER #61 (photo above) and the latter recently made a mix for UK site Data Transmission that collects a ton of their recent work. It is insane. Check the tracklist after the jump, even though you probably won’t recognize a name on it.
