Freeload: Violens, “Doomed (MGMT Remix)”

Not too long ago, our Wham! obsession was exposed by the bright light of the Violens remix series. And since MGMT crapped on our brains this morning, they owed us something as cheery as this redo of “Doomed.” It’s actually not a ton different than the original, which you can hear in the video above, but at least it doesn’t sound like a baby crying… that shit kills a party dead!

Video: MGMT, “Kids”

Remember that time your mom went out of town and instead of her breast milk you got some lukewarm Yoo-hoo from your dad? Oh that’s right you don’t remember that because you were a baby. Well, it messed you up. Trust us. It made you get drunk in high school and make out with losers after college. It might even be the reason you are wearing those pants. Just saying the disclaimer that “No children were harmed in the making of this video” for “Kids” by MGMT seems a little dubious considering they scared the living shit out of this little dude and probably for more than one take. Then he watches a psychedelic puppet show and THEN turns into an animated cheeseburger. Here’s our disclaimer: Do not let Ray Tintori babysit for you even if he has really good references. Watch the video after the jump.

For a minute there we thought Mom had leaked some footage from the garage tapes, but thankfully, it’s just Eric Wareheim, of Tim and Eric Awesome Show. Great Job!, making a video for MGMT.

Freeload: Amazing Baby’s Infinite Fucking Cross EP

Back in July when we interviewed Amazing Baby, they claimed that all they did when they weren’t recording was “work and bone.” Well dudes, looks like your bone time is being infringed upon because Amazing Baby will be touring the UK with their galactic BFFs MGMT in November. But if you’re not British, they still have something for you: their Infinite Fucking Cross EP, which includes all the hits you’ve come to love over the last few months.

Q+A: Chris Edley (Weird Music Video Director)

The talent that brought you the videos for MGMT’s “Time To Pretend” and “Electric Feel” has yet another tripped-out video for eager eyes and ears. With their video for Saul Williams’ “Convict Colony”, co-directors Chris Edley and Rob Leitzell set out to superimpose Saul into mystifying desert landscapes and nightmarish situations involving multiple other Sauls. It took them weeks and weeks to explode our minds with psychotropic images of Niggy Stardust hanging out with his animal spirit, so we figured we’d ask them what took so long. Read up about this video, and other videos produced by these Gondry-endorsed guys, after the jump in our interview with Chris.

Video: MGMT, “Electric Feel”

If you’re going to go to the trouble of being rave hobbits, as MGMT does in their new video directed by Partizan’s Ray Tintori, you might as well turn it into an orgy of digital body paint dipped from a punctured moon, a cartoon bat carrying Frankenstein’s head in its mouth, chicken masks, flying motorcycles, and of course, The Rock-afire Explosion. This is the second version of “Electric Feel” made by Tintori with the band, the first of which was an interactive choose your own adventure that is still available for download here.

Video: MGMT, “Time To Pretend (3-D Version)”

We can’t find our 3-D glasses but if you stretch a piece of gum over one eye and melt a blue jellybean over the other, this video looks real crazy.

Video: Tripping with Yeasayer and MGMT

Buddies and tourmates, MGMT and Yeasayer both recently commissioned videos for “singles” from their excellent albums. Yeasayer’s brand new one is a Dali-esque cosmic journey that goes all snowy when they hit that “oohwee-oohwee-ooh” part of the song, and MGMT’s just looks like acid is making a big comeback in parts of Brooklyn.

Video: Yeasayer, “2080″ (Live at Echoplex, Los Angeles)

Notice to all burgeoning videographers: if you go see a show as good as the one we sponsored last weekend at the Echoplex in LA, with Yeasayer and MGMT, please send us videos as awesome as this one and these ones to info@thefader.com.

Notice to everyone else: Yeasayer and MGMT are crazily awesome and are touring like nuts, so go see them.
