If you have not seen Mika Miko live, it looks nothing like this video. There are not stripes, except on a shirt. Usually just a dark club, a ton of awesome noise and a red phone. Here they look like the Go-Go’s in both light and video quality. We Be Xuxa is out now on PPM. (via P4k)

Are you sick of hearing about what we did in Texas yet? No? Great! Because we are now going to tell you about how we saw Mika Miko at this crappy bar and No Age and Popo were there and we were pretty sure it was the first time 10 people who shred that awesomely have been that close to each other without some kind of explosion or skate ramp present. There could’ve been a skate ramp in the bar though because it was mostly empty, which means most people in Austin that night were totally boring assholes. Mika Miko played “I Got A Lot” and that’s when we snapped this photo with our phone. HD forever people. Anyway, it’s one of our favorite songs of theirs and it’ll be on their album We Be Xuxa, out May 5th on PPM.

There was a distinct reason we chose to put No Age on the cover of our recent 10th Anniversary/Curators Issue: They are one of our favorite bands, but they also champion their favorite bands via the Post Present Medium label. One of the newest to come off PPM is Gun Outfit, from Olympia, WA, whose first singles we called “scuzzily excellent” in our “Goat Hurt” video post last summer. We stand by that heady assessment for Gun Outfit’s new album Dim Light, too, especially this brief gust of malaise known as “In The Dark.” It’s pretty representative of the rest of their stuff — trebly, hypertensive, burn-out vocals — so pick up the album on February 17th if you like it.
