Premiere: O’Spada, “Time (Suck Shaft RMX)” MP3

We’ve been obsessed with the glossy synths of Swedish group O’Spada, led by Stockholm vocalist Julia Spada, for a few months, although it seems like much longer considering we’ve played their single “Time” about 94,000 times since we first posted it. In that time, they hosted a remix contest for the song, and here we present Suck Shaft’s awesome winning entry: a glitchy retoucher with emphasis on the funkyass bass and a faint glimpse of disco in parts. The single also premiered on iTunes today with the second- and third-place remixes—a straight house mix and a cinematic, glorious shoegazy take—so definitely cop those, too. We’ll be waiting with bated breath for their album (supposedly due early 2010).

Dear Winter, Eat It — Round Two: The Röyksopp Edition Starring Lykke Li and Robyn

As we mentioned yesterday, it is on between us and Old Ass Man Winter. Today it’s supposed to be 60 degrees in New York — nice try — but it’s raining and the temperature is supposed to drop back into the low 40s tomorrow. So, Winter, please continue to kiss our asses. Here are two more effervescent Scandinavian soft jams courtesy of Norway’s Röyksopp and the two lovely Swedes, Lykke Li and Robyn, from Röyksopp’s new album Junior.

THE FADER vs WINTER: ROUND TWO:

Audio: Love Is All, “Darling Nikki”

FADER cover alumni (and currently awesome Swedish rock combo) Love Is All will be leaving Gothenburg for a week of stateside shows next month, including a stop at NYC’s own miniature jam palace Cake Shop on the 12th. Check the full schedule on their MySpace. If you need another reason besides “We said so!” to leave your internet cave and see Love Is All in person, keep in mind that their luggage will be stuffed not only with Coppertone and madras shorts and other vacation essentials, but a grip of hand-printed, five song cover CDs. Their shambolic takes on Dire Straits and Flock Of Seagulls are bound to be major, but we’re hung up on this version of Prince’s “Darling Nikki” because of the way Josephine Olausson mumbles the purple one’s lyrics (”mashtrubating with a magoozeen…”) and also because it gives us an excuse to remind you that TIPPER GORE STILL SUCKS.
