Exclusive Freeload: These Are Powers, “Chipping Ice (Remix)”

Recent Dead Oceans signees These Are Powers are re-releasing their Taro Tarot EP (blurbed in F54) on the label, and we have a remix of “Chipping Ice” from that release for you. They’ve replaced the sound that sounds like a no wave drill and replaced it with the bloop of a toy fire truck. The video for the original is above and it’s striking how much we are glad we are not epileptic after watching and listening. Can music sound neon? Probably not, but maybe the band will wave some neon objects on their recently begun tour of the United States. If you live in New York, or will be here on September 27th or 28th, you can find out for free because Dead Oceans has given us a pair of tickets to give away for either NYC show. All you have to do is send an email to contests@thefader with “These Are Powers” in the subject line and your full name in the body, and we’ll pick a winner by next week.
