Gentle voiced Honey Owens (aka Valet) has coupled strum with leather drum twang for the group Nudge, who she often appears with. In this video for “War Song,” Owens wanders empires of vanity and McDonalds, interspersed with footage of bombs and a masked guitar player. Is this protest music or dejected acceptance? We’ll get back to you on that one.

Right now—maybe in your city or town—Honey Owens aka Valet is performing as part of Bradford Cox’s traveling Atlas Sound show. That’s awesome and all, but on her own she creates sweaty, blissed out desert jams from a warehouse in Portland.
