We've been trying to put you up on the next-level guitar radness that is Kaki King, and last night at our CMJ space on Orchard St, we had a chance to do it in person. Kaki came down and hit us with an amazing set of tunes played entirely on electric lap steel and various effects pedals. She would make a beat by hitting on the pickups and flicking the strings (to mimic kicks and hi-hats) then looping it; on top of that, she would throw all sorts of slide lines and harmonics. Kaki leaves for some shows next week, prepare to drop your jaws.
