It’s Gotta Be The Shooz

December 21, 2005

Oddly enough, this post isn't going to focus on the lightsaber-wielding, Yoda-like Curtis Jackson pictured above - we've already hit our 2005 quotas on mixtape cover commentary, Star Wars-specific mixtape cover commentary, and G-Unit Photoshopping . Instead, we'd like to highlight track 6 on NYC-via-New Hampshire DJ Statik Selektah's new disc The Empire Strikes Back. It replaces the original Fredwreck beat from 50/Mobb Deep/Nate Dogg collab "Have A Party" with Nu Shooz' dance classic "I Can't Wait" and a Biz Markie breakbeat underneath. Some irresistable shit for sure, and without a doubt the most joyous G-Unit song in a minute (take notes, frowning millionaires!) Tony Yayo isn't even on this, but it still made us do his hand-in-front-of-face dance. Break out the bucket hats.
