Sideshow: Day Three

November 06, 2006

If you've been reading, you know how we feel about the kids pictured above. If you were at the Sideshow this past Friday, you would know exactly why.

Born Ruffians' set (smack in the middle of performances by Humanzi, Oh No! Oh My!, Heavens, the Tyde and This Moment In Black History) included: yelps, shouts, stomps, whistles, harmonies, broken strings, possibly the most adorably nervous stage banter we have witnessed in some time, and definitely some of the best jangly pop we have listened to in some time.

Continuing with the day's general theme of "Canadians," Shout Out Out Out Out and MSTRKRFT both kept things sweaty right up until closing time. Sideshow partiers might have been a smidge confused about the MSTRKRFT DJ set ("Where's the band? Aren't they a band?"), but they were a fitting headliner, seeing how there were quality selectors on the Delancey St decks between bands all day, including Dr Delay, mid-Atlantic monsters Rubber Bullets, and occasional FADER scribe DJ Ayres, who rode his bike to the place. DEDICATION!
