Stylee Fridays: Eley Kishimoto

November 02, 2007

All fun fashion-making aside, Mark Eley and Makako Kishimoto of Eley Kishimoto are possibly the most bad ass couple in fashion, simply because these two manage to tumble around, get into gumball races, keep the business ticking over without killing each other and still make it home in time to look after their two lovely kids (you can see more of their antics on their blog).

The duo were recently named the new designers of French fashion brand Cacharel, which gave me a good excuse to brew up a nice cuppa, sit back and look over the EK archives at some of the marvelous prints they've come up with over the years, and that's not even including all the print commissions for the likes of Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen. Cacharel was founded back in the early '60s by Jean Bosquet, and is known for its romantic liberty prints and swinging '60s ad campaigns shot by cult photographer Sarah Moon, so it only makes sense that print masterminds like Mark and Makako would be up for the gig. Their debut collection for Cacharel will launch for Fall 2008, so I'm hoping my tatty but very beloved vintage Cacharel buttondown will tie me over until I can get my hands on the new stuff.
