Audio Premiere: Menahan Street Band, “Tired of Fighting” aka “The Telephone Song”

September 22, 2008

The Menahan Street Band became semi-famous recently when their song "Make the Road by Walking" (download it below) was turned into Jay-Z's ""Roc Boys" and subsequently played every second everywhere in the world for three straight months. We hope they caked hard off the strength of that because the process of recording to tape and sounding as old as they do is not a cheap one. "Make the Road" appears on the band's upcoming album of the same name, as does this new instrumental jam "Tired of Fighting." Menahan leader and resident DapKing guitarist, Tommy Brenneck is releasing a 45 of the song tomorrow (9/23) on Dunham/Dapton with a vocal version called "The Telephone Song" by Charles Bradley that honestly just made us call our significant others and apologize about, eh, a lot of stuff. We're kind of difficult.
