Prancehall’s Bass Odyssey, Part 31

September 25, 2008

Wahey! It's a video special this week. In fact, there is such an inundation of new videos that there is no time to talk about Wiley walking out on his latest major label album deal. Instead check out the video for Ghetto's latest single, "Sing For Me", above. I'm not sure what Ghetto was going for with this video – there doesn't seem to be much a concept except maybe to show off his new fur coat. Nothing wrong with that I guess.

This is the video for "The Message is Love" by Silverlink, Badness and Jammer. It's pretty colourful. Yep, great use of colour. There's also some great intentional and not so intentional comedy moments.

The Bug has finally made a video for "Skeng". I'm not sure if this is supposed to tie in with anything because the album, London Zoo, came out ages ago and "Skeng" is ancient. Still, who am I to complain. If you're a fan of black and white footage of MCs looking stoned and slightly menacing you should definitely give this a whirl. If, on the other hand, you have ever tried to defend the state of British people's teeth, then I think it's best you give this one a miss.

Finally, here is a mix by Darkstar of lots of amazing vocoded 2-step and similar stuff that I promised a few weeks ago.

Tracklist:

Darkstar Hyperdub Intro

Darkstar, "Annexe"

Starkey, "Miracles" (Darkstar Remix)

Darkstar, "Squeeze My Lime"

Darkstar, "Digital" (Hyperdub Edit)

Quarta 330 Vs DJ Mehdi, "Lucky Sunset Dub"
