Video: A Beastie Boy is Doing Something

Oscilloscope Laboratories, the film production company of the Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch, just picked up the US rights to Youssou Ndour: I Bring What I Love, the trailer for which you can watch above. Chai Vasarhelyi, the director, followed the Senegalese star for two years, documenting not just his life as a musician but also his role as both critic and ambassador of Islamic culture.

It's just the latest in Yauch's burgeoning career as producer with Oscilloscope's other recent and future releases including the basketball doc Gunnin' for that #1 Spot (also directed by Yauch), global water crisis exposé Flow (T Boone Pickens sighting!), the hilariously nerdy Stuyvesant HS election documentary Frontrunners and, last but not least, Old Joy director Kelly Reichardt’s road movie Wendy and Lucy, which we've heard is quite good.

In other news, Harvey Weinstein has a new mixtape called Where are my fucking slippers? You're fired.
