Video: Blitzen Trapper, “Black River Killer”

July 07, 2009

When Sinead O'Connor filmed the video for "Nothing Compares 2 U," it was a big deal because there were no edits, the entire thing was filmed in one shot. It was supposed to be some major feat in human emotion because she sheds like, one 1/16th of a tear at the end, but as far as cinematic accomplishments go, that shit was bullshit. You will realize this after watching Blitzen Trapper's new video about a serial murderer (and the grotesqueness of spectacle, go Debord cover art references). It is not shot in one take, but it is made to look that way, and the single takes that do exist illuminate how you really have to immaculately choreograph that kind of shot if you are going scene-to-scene. The song is half Tom Petty, half "Devil Went Down to Georgia." Yo Oregon is gully!
