Video: Fiend, “Knees Deep”

September 28, 2009

One of the most left field rumors we've heard in awhile is that Fiend—formerly of No Limit, formerly of Ruff Ryders and currently an unheralded producer as well as the proprietor of consistently slept on albums—would be signing with Roc Nation, and that was way back in '08. As far as we know, it still hasn't happened and maybe that's because as awesome as "Knees Deep" is, every second of it also illustrates how weird a fit the rumored signing would be. Fiend raps from the middle of a dense marsh, sounding way older than he actually is and the chorus is a tuneless and tortured growl. The whole thing is generally really off-putting and insular—pretty much why we liked Fiend's music in the first place, so until the rumor is proven true/debunked, we're just going to continue following one of the more interesting career trajectories in rap.
