A Fresh Cut From Savile Row

October 05, 2009

We’re happy to see young menswear designers pick up the mantle of dapperdom, but in the case of Savile Row veterans E. Tautz, it’s pedigree and history that count. Founded in the nineteenth century, they've suited and booted the likes of Winston Churchill, so when Tautz designer Patrick Grant says the new collection was inspired by the Duke of Windsor, he probably didn’t have to go too far for his research. For spring 2010, there’s a light take on the suit that’s not stodgy or stout, and of course the cut of the clothes carries 100 years' worth of authority. Also, if you’re wondering about pant length (short, long, rolled?), like many guys these days are, you might want to take a cue from E. Tautz and cap yours right above the top of the shoe.
