Video: JJ, “Things Will Never be the Same Again”/ “Intermezzo”/ “My Love”

October 21, 2009

A couple years ago we saw The Tough Alliance literally tear down a stage while lip-synching to their own music. It was amazing and it captured the violent/sweet dichotemy they have going on perfectly. Unsurprisingly, many of the artists they're connected with—including jj—operate the same way. While we've still got the JJ album in regular rotation, we somehow managed to avoid posting this combination video for "Things Will Never be the Same Again"/"Intermezzo"/"My Love" when it came out. On its own, JJ's music floats so cleanly—instantly gratifying, calming and still mysterious—but the video ratchets up the violence and weirdness through footage of a dude throwing molotov cocktails around, as well as a disturbing voyeur sequence at the end. Then again, what else would you expect from a band that put a blood-stained weed leaf on their cover? (via GvsB)
