Comme Des Garçons Gives Barbie a Makeover

December 07, 2009

The world's first ever Comme Des Garçons Barbie has already sold out in Tokyo since launching last week. With a new honey brown dye-job, an asymmetric frock and matching couture price tag (around $350), Rei Kawakubo is clearly buying into our theory that fashion's most focused trendsetters are cutting kindergarten to re-enact scenes from La Dolce Vita in mommy's Marni cast-offs. We only hope that tweenage style genius Tavi gets first dibs on Xmas reorders at Dover Street Market.
