South Rakkas Crew wants to start 2010 with energy. Their free Mad Decent-released album, The Stimulus Package, is brimming with their brand of rugged ragga that is laced with songs that could be heard at an all-night dance party at some club we've never been to in Madrid. The compilation is replete with a litany of vocals contributions from artists like Australia's KillaQueenz to a surprising appearance from Satomi Matsuzaki, who pops up to re-work "+81" from Deerhoof's 2007-released Friend Opportunity, as well as wax her reggae ad-libbing chops. January is a time for recuperating, but there are enough electro-dancehall jams on this album to reinvigorate our personal party economy before mid-month.
