There's no denying that we've hit some kind of breaking point when it comes to homemade music and alluding to being slackers, but there's actually still exciting things happening in that scene. One good primer to what is going on right now (blown out dubstep, codeine submerged song sketches influenced by Dilla, more songs that will probably make people talk about the beach), is the whenever-it-comes-out Friendship Bracelet Club series. This time being presented on cassette as well as free download, the appeal is not necessarily in getting a series of wall-to-wall jams (although some might feel that every song on here is the illest shit around, we're particularly drawn to contributions from matthewdavid and Nowa Huta), but more in getting a carefully selected group of songs that are putting forth an idea. Who knows if three months from now we'll remember who a lot of these guys are, but this compilation will be there for us down the line when we're trying to figure out what the hell was going on in a small subsection of music in April 2010. Get the songs below, or pay a measly five bucks for the tape. As always, the music is free, it's the packaging you're buying.
