Clock Opera, “A Piece of String” MP3

May 19, 2010

Clock Opera's MySpace denotes their genre as "Melodramatic Popular Song," a category bands usually choose when they're being cheeky, but in this case could not be more accurate. Singer Guy Connelly doesn't sing so much as quiver, his words lilting all over the band's synth and guitar baubles. "A Piece of String" is one of those ubiquitous tracks you could play at a dance party or crank in your headphones for a rainy, depressed walk in Prospect Park, its mood malleable to your own. Neon Gold dubbed it Antony meets Four Tet, we're gonna go for Spandau Ballet and Dilute, either way it's going on the "frequently jammed" playlist. This will be officially released next month on Maman.
