Video: Three 6 Mafia f. Billy Wes, Project Pat & Waka Flocka Flame, “Keep My Name Out Yo Mouf”

July 26, 2010

This is a study in the various media rappers use to remember their lyrics while recording, as divided by a slight generation gap. Veteran Project Pat goes the old fashioned route with a piece of paper, while wee spitter Waka Flocka's rocking some kind of newfangled tiny laptoppy thing, bigger than a bread basket but smaller than an iPad. Kids these days are so funny! DJ Paul, however, recites his verses live and direct from his brain. After you've watched this video, go listen to last week's edition of The Let Out, during which FADER friend/Memphis expert Benjamin Meadows-Ingram played a bunch of music from his hometown of Memphis and told copious and fascinating Three 6 Mafia tales.
