DJ Mujava's "Township Funk" was released in South Africa in 2006 (circa "Sexyback," "Everytime We Touch"), worldwide via Warp in 2008, and six hours ago via DJ Qness' "Township Funk" mixtape. It's a subtle monster, like most of these tracks, effortlessly bouncing between the deepest of house and the neck-snappingest trance. This is timeless shit. Tracks like Mogrigo's "Heavyweight" and Mzo Bullet's "Casablanca" have been floating around forever, but this is their first official release and the first South African House/kwaito mixtape commercially available outside the motherland, thank god. It's sweatpants day at the office, wow, our twerking is so free.
