Secretly Canadian released Nightlands' Forget The Mantra yesterday on vinyl and CD. Nightlands is the solo project of Philadelphia's Dave Hartley, but it sounds like an army of bearded hill-dwellers who burn sage pyres and play wicked guitar. Or just some dudes from Bushwick—we saw a couple in a bar last night wearing denim overalls and running shoes like they'd just gotten out of pilates after a long day in the mines. Anyway, this Nightlands album is a sleeper, in the figurative and literal sense, in that not enough people seem to know about it and that it will lullaby you into a peaceful slumber. And your dreams will be of rivers filled with gold, or golden beer, whichever makes you happy. Listen below and purchase it here.
