Tape Deck Mountain, “PI” MP3

November 18, 2010

Pitchfork says that Tape Deck Mountain frontman Travis Trevisan wrote this song after a "recent bout with unemployment," which we're pretty sure is exactly the same condition most bands write most of their songs under. Trevisan has the upper hand, however, because while most dudes are spending their nights playing music and their days working at a supermarket or in some weird office, Trevisan spent his time as a repo man, which might be one of the most heavy jobs ever. Like, we were recently in a casino that had a payday loans booth right next to the slot machines. Being a repo man might be harder to stomach than that. Ostensibly this song is not about being a repo man, and is instead about being a private investigator and tapping phones and stuff, but if you wish hard enough you can make the lyrics fit into the frame anyway.
