Video: Braiden, “The Alps”

November 19, 2010

Steve Braiden is a Rinse FM DJ, a UK producer. But really a better summary of his vibe than a laundry list of credits is that he is the photographer of this photo of Deadboy. Orange sky, wafting smoke, dark figure, ignorant city churning in the distance. There is certainly a Gotham feeling to his single "The Alps"—here shown in an edit, the single is seven minutes long. What city, though, it debatable. Though Braiden comes from London, he is certainly a fan of Chicago and Detroit, especially those city's predilection to jacking. We're also reminded of heavy classic "Al-Naafiysh," by Hashim for the clunking down the stairs drums. "The Alps" is out Monday on Doldrums and Braiden (along with Joy Orbison and a gang of others) play tomorrow at Plan B in London to celebrate.
