To fill the holes in the collective style memory Minh-Ha Pham began amassing images that documented the style of women of color and started Of Another Fashion. This visual archive shines a light on the underrepresented ladies that have been stepping in style for almost a century. Pham shows women sporting the vogue looks of their heyday— Japanese ladies in the swinging '60s, African-American Flappers in the roaring '20s, and a Mexican-American woman sporting a zoot suit in the '40s. The visual journey also includes beauty advertisements, news bits and telegraphs that add cultural context and unearthed backstage pics of the sirens of Forbidden City Nightclub, a Chinese themed cabaret in San Fransisco in the 1950s. Check after the jump for a peek but make sure to visit Of Another Fashion and check it out in its entirety.
