Video: Mr Dream, “Trash Hit”

April 21, 2011

New York is not as as dirty as it once was, but Mr. Dream definitely make it seem like it is. Rolling tires, sifting around in some trash—sifting around in more trash, destroying actual artwork. Who cares if we recognize that some of the streets are right by our too fancy gym or the brewery with the ill roof deck? It's all about the illusion—and the illusion with Mr. Dream is that New York is still a grimy place where every musician is aware of everyone else and it creates one giant interlocking web of music knowledge being passed back and forth. That's a pretty cool effect to have, but it's daunting too—there's a lot of great music to drag into a single band's vibe, and now it's about how can process everything the best and spit it back out new. Everything sounds like everything else and there's nothing we can do but just roll with it and feel cool because we recognize where all this stuff came from. This video is super pro—no found footage of a dude picking a flower or whatever. Missed u rock music, missed u real music videos.
