You know how when you get coffee in the morning and the barista tries to upsell you on some way bigger one and it's one of those pivotal moments where in your head you're like, Oh man this decision will dictate the kind of day I am going to have? And then you pick the big one and spend the rest of the day leaning your head against the wall in an attempt to calm the caffeine jitters. No? Well, that means that you spend your days making good, controlled, decisions. This Toro y Moi remix is the regular-sized coffee of Cut Copy remixes, and we're totally happy for it. Toro y Moi continues to run like hell away from the chillwave tag, by morphing his nostalgic warmth™ into something more rooted in the world of disco, but with a chopped up, stoned rush of ambient noise. It's not bombastic and probably won't make you jump up and down like a maniac, which is what generally happens at Cut Copy shows, but it's 90-something degrees today and we got the small coffee and are trying to relax. Can we live?
