Southwest Atlanta's Shanell has an unstrained, solid voice, a confidence that is the female vocalist's version of a rapper's bravado. She's unbothered, tough, and it allows her to keep up with the two biggest dudes in rap, Lil Wayne and Drake, who have verses on "So Good." This song is simple, just a bubbly beat and happy rhymes—even Drake and Lil Wayne stick to the underlying premise of all pop songs: love. There are some brief moments where Shanell loses her cool, hits a trill and deigns to push out a melismatic Mariah Carey, but they only serve as exclamation points.
